Tuesday, September 13th there will be an assembly at Kutztown Elementary school for scouting. At 3pm, for about 10 minutes, the boys will gather for a discussion about scouting.
It would be GREAT if all the scouts wear their Class B t-shirts to school on that day.
Wednesday, September 14th, from 7-8pm, there is a scout night at Kutztown Elementary School. That is the night for new scouts and parents to come out, ask questions, and sign up for the next year of scouting. We would like to have as many of the pack at this event as possible. The den leaders will be working on having a small skit for each den, and we may have a presentation from the previous year of scouting.
Thanks for you support as we try to keep scouting going strong in Kutztown.
Leaders and Volunteers:
All volunteers are required to take Youth protection training on line. This expalins the policies and practices of BSA.
Parents:
We highly encourage you to take the “This is Scouting” and “Youth Protection” training. This will familiarize you with Scouting. Also feel free to take any of the leadership specific training courses as they will show you how the den meetings are run. Most online courses take around 15 minutes to complete.
To take Youth Protection training go to MyScouting.org and create an account. You do NOT need a BSA Member ID to create an account.
From the MyScouting.org portal, click on E-Learning and take the Youth Protection training.
Upon completion, you may print a certificate of completion to submit with a volunteer application or submit the completion certificate to the unit leader for processing at the local council.
When your volunteer application is approved, you will receive a BSA membership card which includes your member ID number. After you receive your membership card, log back into MyScouting, click on My Profile and update the system by inputting your member ID number. This will link your Youth Protection training records, and any other training, in MyScouting to your BSA membership.

It has finally arrived. Cub Scout Pack 101′s 2011 Pinewood Derby.
Car Check-in is Friday Night 6pm-8pm at Rec Hall and Saturday Morning 9am-11am. After weigh in and inspection cars will be impounded for the event on Sunday at 1pm at the Kutztown High School Gym.
-Cars not registered at the weigh-ins cannot race in Sunday’s Event!-
There will be a few tools at the weigh in for some fine tuning adjustments. If you plan on working on your car we ask you bring your tools with as well as it tends to turn into a busy workshop sometimes.
Keep in mind, last year we found out the Kutztown Post office scale was slightly off, and a few cars had to have a little weight shaved off to get within the correct weight limits (5 oz)
We are looking for some volunteers to help setup the track on Sunday Morning at 9am, as well as some volunteers to assist during the event, like Scorekeepers.
Here are the official rules for the 2011 Pack 101 Pinewood Derby.
